External Threats - Tips and Tricks

  • Avoid guessable passwords and change them once a month
  • Don't save your passwords on your browser through the saved passwords setting
  • Don't make your meeting information (id #) publicly available
  • Keep your antivirus software up to date 
  • Use platforms that offer "waiting room" features and ask the waiting party to contact you in a different form (e-mail, telephone) prior to admittance

Internal Threats - Tips and Tricks

  • Avoid shared, generic network logins
  • Don't share your "house keys" (teacher access) with your students, even in emergencies
  • Change your session settings so students aren't allowed to do things like take over "host" duties
  • Allow access to a teaching assistant or second teacher who can help if something locks you out
  • Use platforms which allow instructors to prevent students from private chat or private communication, to prevent cyberbullying in class
