Processes and Resources

Step 1: Explore your interests.  Create your personal ID with Career Coach and complete your profile. Take the career coach survey to determine suggested career paths based on your interests and print.

  • What area did you score highest in?
  • Why do you think this is your highest score?

Step 2: You may have scored high in more than one area of your career inventory. Choose the area in which you have the most interest.  Look over the careers in that area of interest and start researching the one you think would suit you the most.

  • When you find the career you think you will research, click on that career to see information about that career.  You will be instructed how to complete this section during class.

Step 3:  Go back to Career Coach.  Choose the needed education preparation level for your chosen career – Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctoral Degree.

Step 4: In addition, you will need to know where you can get the degree that you need. Explore the educational requirements necessary for your career.

  • Can you get your needed degree at BSCTC?  If so, what is it?
  • Will you transfer to get your needed degree?  If so, where?
  • How long do you anticipate it will take you to complete your degree

Step 5: Next, go to the list of careers.  Choose your career and begin exploring the job outlook and the salary range for your chosen career.

  • What is the job outlook?
  • What is the salary range?
  • Will you have to move? Are you willing to move?
